Hawkman vs. Killer Moth... Who Would Win?

Well, it's not exactly a fair question is it? I mean, Hawkman fighting Killer Moth would be a little like having Lemmy from Motörhead fight David Bowie. And it's not that I'm not a huge Bowie fan, because I am, it's just that I think Lemmy could probably take Bowie if they were both in their prime. Imagine how amazing it would be to see Ziggy Stardust dodging Lemmy's swinging bass guitar.

Hmmm... anyway... I digress, and admit that the real point of all this is to take a quick look at two action figures that I was finally, after months of searching, able to find at retail. God knows distribution of the Mattel DC Universe line is a little weird, but when wave six turned up near me again last week, I rolled with it and scrambled for what I'd missed before.

Hawkman has received more than its share of rave reviews, and I'm not about to argue with any of that.

HawkmanThe thing is damn near perfect, and I rank him a ten out of ten when it comes to play value.

Without a doubt, Hawkman stands as another one of those classic examples of just how awesome the Four Horsemen are as toy designers.

Then there's the Killer Moth, which has probably caused a few fans of the DC Universe line to groan, but the honest truth is that it's a great, if not amazingly colorful figure.

Sure, green and orange striped pants, bright red wings, and a purple top aren't the kind of thing that you'd expect to see the average villain wearing, but as far as I'm concerned, it makes the Killer Moth much more frightening than a lot of other bad guys.

Killer MothIt took me a while to find a Killer Moth that didn't have paint problems, and once I had, there turned out to be issues with how well the wings were attached. A bit of re-gluing was required to fix things, which wasn't too terribly traumatic in this case, but still, it would have been nice if those Chinese production standards had been a little higher.

So, yeah... ultimately Hawkman would trash the Killer Moth, just as the Thin White Duke would be crushed by the might of Motörhead's front man Lemmy. We all win though, because both DC Universe figures are brilliant in their own right, and are well worth owning if you can find them.
